Is your player at Rec games wishing she could pitch? We are proud to announce our instructor lead beginner pitching clinic.
Instructor lead by Erika Daigle and current Shen pitchers.
Erika was a pitcher at Russell Sage College and broke the single-season strikeout record my freshman year. Bio: "I played my high school softball at Shenendehowa in Clifton Park, pitching the team to a Section II Class AA Championship. I earned two All-State selections, two Suburban Council All-Star selections and NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete awards. I have five years of providing pitching instruction. I have developed and delivered pitching clinics along with individual pitching instruction. I participated in various other softball clinics as a pitching instructor. I have previous coaching experience with the Electric City Gold team. I received my pitching instruction from college coaches and former college and international fastpitch pitchers. Unfortunately, I could not fulfil my dream of pitching collegiately for four seasons due to a career ending injury. I now share my love of the game with other players through instructing and coaching. I am currently working towards a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Russell Sage College."
In order to try pitching at Rec, you need to attend some sort of pitching clinic. This is a great opportunity early in the season.
This is a beginners program for all A and AA (ages 7 – 10) players. Minors (age 6) can be wait-listed and added into the clinics if room is available.

The Shenendehowa Miss Softball America program was founded in 1973 by a small group of parents who wanted their daughters to have the opportunity to participate in organized sports. The first summer, 135 girls, ages 9 through 15, participated in the program. The second and third seasons saw participation rise to 240 girls and 280 girls, respectively. Teams were coached and managed by parents. Games were played on the school fields and occasionally on the fields at Sherwood Forest, or Country Knolls.
In 1976, the league dropped the national affiliation with Miss Softball America and joined the Hudson Mohawk Girls Softball Association as Miss Shen Softball. Games were played with teams from Clifton Park, Cambridge, Schuylerville, Greenwich, Colonie, Saratoga, Cohoes and Brunswick. In 1988, Miss Shen was proud to open our own complex of fields.
The Miss Shen Softball league is governed by a Board of Directors. Past board members have paved the way for all of us at Miss Shen so that we may enjoy an inclusive league, fun environment, and top-notch playing fields. Thank you to our league presidents for their leadership. Today, we have over 700 girls, ages 4 through 17, registered to play and we rely on the participation of many parent volunteers.
We offer our girls opportunities to learn more aspects of the game through optional clinics and camps. The popular winter pitching clinic, which takes place from December to March, has been offered for many years. We also hold an annual catcher’s clinic and other clinics throughout the year.
Our recreation program encourages a have-fun attitude where girls can learn and participate in the game of softball.
The girls who play in the travel program enjoy more competitive play against local area teams and participation in Local, State and National tournaments. The travel program adheres to ASA rules.
We are proud of our history and look forward to our future!
